Back in July when I had Callie, my husband and I made the decision that I would be concentrating on photography full time. It has been such an awesome experience and spending more time with my children has been truly priceless. I will never regret the time I have spent with them and getting to know them as individual, spirited people.
But the opportunity has come up for some temporary part time work at the University of Redlands, where I had worked for 9 years before trying my hand has a project manager. My friend and previous coworker, Amy, is going out on maternity leave (squee! I can’t wait to meet your baby girl!) and I will be temping for her 3 days a week. I honestly can’t wait to see all my previous coworkers again. I have missed them and missed the University. I know Sawyer has missed consistently going to daycare and I have missed eating lunch with both hands and drinking my coffee while it’s still hot 😉
I’m also posting about this to reassure all my clients that you won’t even notice my returning to work. I have an amazing workflow in place and your images will still be high quality and delivered to you in record time. I knew when I left in 2014 that I would come back in some capacity but color me surprised when it was this opportunity!
I’m also thrilled that it is part time so I will still be spending time with my babies along with my photography business. The U of R has been keeping me busy with freelance photography work (which you guys never see! But you do if you follow the University of Redlands on Facebook) and it’s been really fun to see it published and say, “Oh, I did that… and I did that too!” One of the highlights of my career was the Richard M. Sherman event back in January. What an insanely talented man, and what a production the University put on for him. I was so proud to be a Bulldog that night!
So yes, this has been an amazing 7 months with incredible flexibility but it will be fun to have a little bit of structure too. Now… to find where I put all my work pants…. 😉
