Child Photographer: Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times
I lovesme some Disneyland. Trust me. The Hubs and I are seriously considering getting passes soon. I used to get to go all the time through work (Club 33 anyone?) and I miss it so much. It just gives me that happy fuzzy feeling inside.
There’s another place that does that as well. Actually, it’s even better than Disneyland, if you can believe it. 5 years ago, my life changed for the better. I went to a Christmas luncheon at work and they honored an employee that had devoted much of his time and talent to Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times. I called him up and asked him for more information and it all changed after that. I interviewed, got accepted as a camp counselor and had one of the best summers of my life.
Due to work and a lot of other factors (marriage, travel, etc.) I haven’t gotten to go back in nearly 2 years. I’m excited to say that I’m going back in August to be a counselor for a cabin of teenage girls and I. can’t. wait. But before then, this past weekend I had the honor and privilege of going up to photograph some incredible kids . I was only there for a day, but I was already falling head over heels for these kids. I can’t wait to go back and have a cabin of my own again.
Thank you, camp, for letting me and the Hubs visit. As the camp director said to me when we arrived… Welcome home.
I’m only sharing a couple of pictures but I feel they convey the power and strength within these children.
